Dr. Marcho Markov graduated from Medical University, Pleven In 1987. From 1987 to 1989 he worked as a practitioner in the Department of Anaesthesiology, Reanimation and Intensive Care of the City Hospital „Hristo Botev“, Vratsa, Bulgaria. Meanwhile, he specialized in Anesthesiology and Reanimation. After winning a competitive examination for clinical orthopedics and traumatology in 1989, he worked at the Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic at the Medical University Pleven under the guidance of Prof. Marin Ganchev till 1992. During his specialization he successfully completed Hip and Knee Arthroscopy Courses and Hip and Knee Replacement Courses. In April 1992, he acquired specialization in Orthopaedics and Traumatology. From 1992 till 1993 he worked as an orthopedic traumatologist at the City Hospital „Hristo Botev“, Vratsa, Bulgaria. After winning a competitive examination for medical researcher at the University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment and Emergency Medicine „N. I. Pirogov“ in 1993, he was assigned to the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology — First Traumatological Clinic. At the clinic he worked in the fields of general traumatology of the upper and lower limbs, pelvis, reconstructive surgery of the locomotor system, endoprosthesis and endoprosthesis of the hip, knee, shoulder and elbow joints. Since 2010, he has been appointed as Chief medical administrator of the fourth traumatology clinic. He has successfully completed a number of courses and obtained certificates for prosthetic implants of the large joints, fixation of fractures with minimally invasive techniques, locking plate osteosynthesis, intramedullary fixation and reconstructive surgery. He has participated in over 40 publications in Bulgarian and foreign medical journals. His main scientific interests are in the area of minimally invasive techniques of fracture fixation. He has specialized in Switzerland and France. He is current Member of Bulgarian Orthopedic and Traumatology Association (BOTA), Bulgarian Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH), AO Trauma Bulgaria and European Federation of National Associations of Orthopedics and Traumatology (EFORT). Winner of the Prize of the Regional Medical College of the city of Veliko Tarnovo „Mollov’s days“ in 2014.
