Assoc. Prof. Dr Alexander Shinkov is an endocrinologist with more than 20 years of experience with interests mainly in the field of thyroid and parathyroid diseases, and metabolic bone diseases. Dr Shinkov diagnoses and treats patients with diseases of the thyroid gland, calcium-phosphorus metabolism, hormonal and metabolic disorders, osteoporosis. He performs ultrasounds of the neck and the thyroid gland. He was selected by Darik Radio for the best doctors in Bulgaria in the field of Endocrinology and metabolic diseases. Assoc. Prof. Shinkov does not examine children. Education Dr Shinkov graduated from the Medical University of Sofia in 1994. Then he acquired his specialties in Internal Medicine, and Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases in 2001 and 2004, respectively. Additional qualifications - Ultrasound, fine-needle biopsy, osteodensitometry (a standard method for measuring bone mineral density); - He has taken EFES Clinical Endocrinology Courses; - molecular and clinical endocrinology in France, Finland, Germany, USA; - clinical densitometry of ISCD (The International Society for Clinical Densitometry) and IOF (International Osteoporosis Foundation) in the Czech Republic; - gerontology in Romania; - mineral bone diseases in France; - Member of the Bulgarian Society of Endocrinology, European Society of Endocrinology, American Society of Endocrinology, European and American Thyroid Associations; - Participant and lecturer in numerous national and international congresses and seminars in the specialty Biography Assoc. Prof. Alexander Shinkov, is an associate professor at the University Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment in Endocrinology "Acad. Ivan Penchev" in Sofia. Since 1999 he has had an independent practice as an endocrinologist in Sofia.
